Folk Festival Rising Stars Band Academy
An opportunity for young musicians
The Folk Fest Rising Stars Band Academy is an exciting new initiative at the Townsville Folk Festival, designed to mentor and showcase emerging young musicians. In collaboration with King Konz School of Music, this eight-week program provides talented solo artists or groups with expert mentoring, hands-on experience, and performance opportunities.
Key Highlights
Weekly Mentoring Sessions (15 April to 7 June) covering stagecraft, performance techniques, and sound management
A showcase performance on 13th of June at the Townsville Folk Festival's Jam Tin Stage
The Rising Stars People's Choice Award, where festival-goers vote for their favourite act. The winner will perform again on Sunday 14 June
Funded by a Regional Arts Development Fund Grant from the Townsville City Council and Arts Queensland
This program provides invaluable industry experience, confidence-building opportunities, and networking connections for aspiring young artists.
