📣CALLING ALL FESTIVAL PEOPLE📣 500 KAZOO PLAYERS NEEDED📣

🎉Come and be a part of this madness and joyful noise making on 💥Saturday 8th June at 11:45am sharp, at the Mountain Stage💥

Peter Hanley is aiming to gather 🎶500 kazoo players 🎶to establish the 🔥World Record🔥 for the largest kazoo orchestra ever assembled on a cattle property in North Queensland" - sounds impressive doesn't it?

Why kazoos? Why not? Easy to transport💥 easy to play💥comes in various colours 💚🧡💛and shapes and we can all have a go😃😃😃

✨️Don't have one lying around, no problems, we will have them available to buy for a gold coin donation🤩

✨️Here's some interesting information that will inspire you to join in this historic “World Record”event.

✨️Where does it come from?
💥The kazoo was most likely derived from an African instrument called the mirliton or “onion flute”.

💥 A popular anecdote suggests that Alabama Vest, a formerly enslaved person residing in Macon, Georgia, designed the modern kazoo in 1840 in collaboration with German clock manufacturer Thaddeus Von Clegg. A traveling salesman by the name of Emil Sorg brought the idea of manufacturing metal kazoos to Western New York in about 1912.

✨️How does it work?
💥Just like the kazoo, the mirliton has an internal membrane that creates a buzzing sound when it is played.

🎶When you hum into the kazoo, vibrations from your vocal cords travel through the tube, vibrating the air molecules🎶

💥The waxed-paper membrane that on the other end of the tube creates additional vibration, amplifying the sound.🎶💥

Hey Amigos! It's been a while! We are over the moon to announce that we're heading north for this year's 33rd Townsville Folk Festival 6-9 June.

We've lost count of how many of those 33 years we've played; firstly as a duo the Licks back in 2005 and then so many times as The Flumes and then The Moonsets.

This'll be our first time at the new venue at Foots Hill Station so we're going full circle and bringing the strings for a couple of duo sets on Friday and Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing all of our festival family and soaking up some live music under the stars.

Big Love & Moonbeams💛🌙💛

For those you don't know, every year we have a ✨️Decorations team✨️ that is dedicated to making the festival site come to life💥

Transforming it from a bare, open sparse looking paddock, that becomes filled with boring, festival infrastructure, they create a vibrant💥exciting💥 visual feast🎉🎆

As our annual themes change our ✨️Decorations team✨️ create new installations, mostly recycled from past decorative pieces 👏👏🙏

This year the team is led by our long standing wearer of many hats Michele🧡 and Marjolein💚our long time volunteer and supporter. They have been busy making our 🤩Eco Carnivale🤩 decorations and embellishments🎉🎊

🎉Here's a flash of Decorations past🎊
